Meet Snoppen & Snippan, the most beloved animation characters for Swedish kids! The video with over 10 millions views (as of Jan 2022) went viral when it's launched in 2015. Today let's take a look at the creative ways of sex education rolled out by other countries.

Which is the 1st country that introduce mandatory sexuality education in schools?

Yes Sweden! 70 years ago back in 1955! After a long process of evolution, sexuality education is today fully integrated in school curricula and addressed in a variety of topics.

Some Swedish students enjoy the luxury of an eight-week course with a 4-hour class every week. For example, Kaspar at 14, already had age-appropriate sex education at primary school where they learned about Snopp and Snippa – children’s names for their body parts. The educational video aimed at three- to six-year-olds featuring cartoon dancing penises and vaginas.

Meanwhile, Norway’s Government owned broadcast channel NRK debuts sex education TV show to demonstrate how sex works with a dildo, vagina model and condom. The science programme named <Newton> targeting children aged 8-12 who’s about to enter puberty. This world is shocked with how explicit the video is with actual photos of vagina and penis.

How's Hong Kong doing in sex education?

As Andres (2021) mentioned about the lack of holistic comprehensive sexual health education in Hong Kong, adolescents facing challenges requiring knowledge, support and inclusion are usually left to make isolated and uninformed decisions, which may lead to high-risk behaviors like sex at an early age, unprotected sex or a combination of sex and substance abuse. There is such an urgent need for a holistic, replicable and sustainable sexuality education model.
